GOMIN GM-176521 — High-Temperature Nano Ceramic Coating

A polysilazane-based ceramic coating engineered for continuous service at 1000°C and peak exposure up to 1200°C on carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and high-temperature alloy components.

What is GM-176521?

GM-176521 is a two-component inorganic–organic hybrid high-temperature coating built on room-temperature-curable polysilazane resin, filled with copper-chrome black pigment, phosphate binders and inorganic silicon powder. After cure, the resin and filler pack into a dense, ceramic-like film that forms covalent bonds with the substrate rather than a simple mechanical key. The result is a hard, glossy black-grey finish that resists flame, hot gas erosion, thermal shock, salt spray and acidic atmospheres.

Unlike conventional silicone or epoxy heat-resistant paints, GM-176521 uses ionic compound raw materials that chemically bond to the base metal during cure, raising the mechanical strength of the film far above that of standard high-temperature enamels.

Why Choose GM-176521?

  • 1000°C continuous service, 1200°C peak rating — verified by GB/T 30873-2014 thermal-shock testing (600°C × 1 h → water quench, 4+ cycles, no visible cracking).
  • 7H pencil hardness (GB/T 6739-2006) with adhesion grade 0 (GB/T 9286-1998) on properly prepared steel substrates.
  • 30-day neutral salt spray with no blistering, cracking or rust points (GB/T 10125-2021).
  • 30-day artificial weathering with no rusting, chalking or cracking; only slight colour shift (GB/T 1865-2009).
  • Broad substrate range — carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium, titanium, high-temperature alloy, glass-ceramic, ceramic, concrete.
  • Room-temperature cure with a 250°C / 1 h post-bake option for production-line speed.

Typical Applications

  • Electric heaters, boiler parts, pipes, valves, heat exchangers and radiators
  • High-temperature devices and high-temperature sensor housings
  • Surfaces of metallurgical equipment, moulds and casting machinery
  • Electric heating elements, tanks and enclosures
  • Small appliances and cookware (gas-burner caps, rice-cooker shells)
  • Chemical and metallurgical components exposed to high-temperature service

Application Procedure

  1. Surface cleaning — remove oil, dust and contaminants with a dedicated cleaner or degreaser.
  2. Profile blasting / grinding — abrasive blast to Sa 2.5 (best) or mechanical grind to St 3 minimum, with all mill scale and rust removed (per GB/T 30790.4-2014).
  3. Rinse & dry — ensure the substrate is completely dry and clean before coating.
  4. Mix — combine A and B at 2.5 : 1 by mass, stir to a uniform blend, filter through 300 mesh.
  5. Spray — apply with a 1.0 mm-nozzle spray gun for the best finish and uniformity.
  6. Cure — room-temperature flash-off, then bake at 250 °C for 1 h to full cure.

Apply a single pass; dry film thickness should not exceed 50 µm — thicker films reduce performance. Mixed coating must be used within 6 hours.

Storage & Handling

  • Store in a dry, shaded, well-ventilated area away from heat and ignition sources, 5 – 30 °C, sealed.
  • Shelf life is 6 months from manufacture in unopened original packaging.
  • Re-seal partially used containers immediately; do not return mixed material to the original drum.
  • Dispose of expired or waste material in accordance with local environmental regulations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is the maximum continuous service temperature of GM-176521?

GM-176521 is rated for continuous service at 1000 °C and instantaneous peaks up to 1200 °C. Actual endurance depends on substrate type — always request the formulation matched to your base material.

Q2: Can it be applied to stainless steel or aluminium?

Yes. GM-176521 is formulated for carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium alloy, titanium alloy, high-temperature alloy steel, glass-ceramic, ceramic and concrete. For best results, the formulation is adjusted to the substrate — contact GOMIN for the matching grade.

Q3: What surface preparation is required?

Abrasive blast to Sa 2.5 is recommended; mechanical preparation to St 3 (no mill scale) is the minimum. Surface must be dry and free of oil before coating. Surface preparation quality directly determines coating performance.

Q4: How thick should one coat be?

Recommended dry film thickness is 30 ± 5 µm per pass. Do not exceed 50 µm in a single pass — thicker films reduce hardness and corrosion resistance.

Q5: How long is the pot life after mixing?

Once A and B are mixed, the coating must be used within 6 hours. Clean spray equipment between long stops to prevent curing inside the gun.

Q6: Is GM-176521 suitable for outdoor or salt-spray environments?

Yes. GM-176521 passes 30-day neutral salt spray (GB/T 10125-2021) with no blistering, cracking or rust spots, and 30-day artificial weathering (GB/T 1865-2009) with only slight colour change.
